This super-prime property has been vacant for several years. Shape’s brief is to extend and comprehensively refurbish this house, ensuring it meets the exacting requirements for properties of this type.
This existing building sits in a prominent location on the edge of Hampstead Golf Club within the Hampstead Garden Trust Conservation Area. The house has not been in use for around 20 years and, as such, it is in great need of repair to be brought back into use.
Working closely with the client and design team we have developed a scheme that reviewed the internal layout and proposed to remodel, re-service and refurbish the interior spaces in order to create a single dwelling that will provide a beautiful home. Externally, the building will be extensively refurbished whilst retaining the original character. New roof lights and dormers will ensure the property has plenty of natural light with the roof space and a new extension on the ground floor to the rear will provide a contemporary kitchen / dining area overlooking the significantly improved garden.
We gained planning permission from Barnet Council who praised the design, and produced the tender and construction information. The project is now on site in the strip-out stage.
